Supermodel Claudia Schiffer has been called up by Karl Lagerfeld to model Chanels autumn–winter 2011–12 Prestige eyewear collection.
The chain motif has been used in numerous ways for the eyewear designs, evoking the Chanel handbag.
The chain is woven with a strip of lambskin to form the temples, giving a distinctive look to the eyewear and sunglasses ranges.
There is a variety of looks and sizes to the seasons frames: biker chic, buttery, cats eyes, oversized, and aviator. There are old metal shades as well as light grey, wine, taupe and blue for the acetate models.
Lagerfeld himself appears in the promotional lm, shown at the end of this entry, where his designs are shown going from sketchbook to initial prototype.
