Without a doubt, Chanels Spring/Summer show was THE show to be at this week in Paris. With a performance by Florence and the Machine set against a mythical underwater opalescent backdrop compleete with seahorses, and with Uma Thurman and Clémence Poésy in attendance at the Grand Palais, you almost forgot about the clothes. The tailored collection featured classic Chanel jackets matched with looser fitting dresses and included shorts, giving the collection a more relaxed feel. Stefano Pilatiss designs for Yves Saint Laurents Spring/Summer collection played homage to Bunuels 1960s film Belle de Jour. Silk and duchess satin were in abundance used on halter neck tops tucked into slim leg pants and organza blouses had bouffant sleeves which were matched with sharp pencil skirts. The palette was mostly jewel toned, with amethyst, sapphire and deep emerald mixed with white for freshness. Prints were also present in the collection in the form of a silk paisley maxi skirt or a flowing long sleeved floor length dress matched with a thick leather belt.
